Congress holds emergency session to fight growing cost of Viagra

Congress has called an emergency session to prevent Pfizer, Inc. from raising the price of Viagra.

Many drugs have received sharp increases over the past year resulting in public outrage, however Viagra seems to be the last straw.

Pfizer announced the price of Viagra would go up 400% in costs in Q4.

“Lives are on the line here,” commented Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz. “Many men suffer from a terrible medical condition but modern medicine is here to save us, I mean, those afflicted. Big pharma are emptying our pockets with no remorse for the devastating toll it will take on families that need this medication.”

“Viagra helps keep the sacred family unit together,” Cruz added grossly.

Richard Johnson, CEO of Pfizer, insists that the increase is necessary as relations between Pfizer and its customer base has fizzled in recent years.

“With the overall health of the average American male getting better, erectile dysfunction is less common than it used to be,” said Johnson. “In order to produce the drug for those needed and make the same amount of money, we needed this drug to cost more. Its simple dickle down economics.”

The road towards meaningful legislation will be long and hard, as stiff resistance is already mounting in both chambers of Congress.

A coalition consisting of all 104 women of Congress and all the wives of the 431 male members of Congress have vowed to prevent any tinkering with the free market.
