The business masterminds behind MoviePass have announced that the service will now be restricted to infinite viewings of one of several exclusive VHS tapes.
MoviePass CEO Barry Manilow said the move is not a sign of the company’s financial weakness.
“With this new plan, there are no limits,” said Manilow. “Previously, MoviePass members had to go to a theater to watch a movie, which they could not rewatch. This new peer-to-peer business model is a game changer.”
MoviePass has released the address and contact information of its million subscribers so that they can coordinate sharing the several VHS tapes.
According to a press release, the VHS tapes are currently blank “so it’s technically possible for any movie your heart desires could be found the VHS tapes.”
