Fans of the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day were assured that the film’s star is still alive.

According to a press release from 20th Century Fox, Boomer, the dog from the film, is alive and well in a farm upstate where he has lots of room to run around and play.

Roland Emmerich, the director of Independence Day Resurgence, appeared in a press conference to confirm that Boomer would even appear in the sequel.

When journalists pressed about the youthful appearance of the dog which is over twenty years old, Emmerich revealed that it was “just movie magic.”

“Not to give too much of the story away, but Boomer was able to look younger due to alien technology, and we were able to achieve that youthful look through the use of CGI.” said Emmerich. “It’s absolutely the same dog.”

“Now quit being silly and go to sleep, sweety,” Emmerich added before tucking the journalist into bed.
